As a STEM Parent of 3 aspiring technologists, April is a passionate advocate who applies her personal experiences:

  • To help parents discover ways to consistently engage and encourage their daughter to pursue a STEM career.

  • As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), she wrote “The Top 5 Rules of Engagement for Parents Raising a Girl in STEM” (ebook, 2016)

  • To coach and help elevate a parent's awareness and importance of actively engaging in STEM

  • To give parents practical yet strategic steps to systematically apply regardless of their daughter’s level of STEM involvement. 



April is an Assistant Professor at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas. She teaches courses in Health Information Management (HIM), Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Cybersecurity. Recent presentations include:

  • Cybersecurity & Safety

  • Principles of Health Information Management

  • Relational Database Management (SQL)
